Maple Grove Wood Flooring is a wood flooring company in Maple Grove, Minnesota, and we have been sanding, repairing and installing floors here for more than 20 years. Refinishing is the largest part of the work, followed by repair, subfloor work and lower-level flooring, and almost all of it happens within about half an hour of where we are based.

Twenty years in one climate is worth more than twenty years spread across several. The floors in this part of Hennepin County fail in predictable ways on a predictable schedule, and having watched the same houses gap through the winter and close up again through the summer is what lets us tell a homeowner which of those things is a defect and which is simply what oak does here.

Our Approach

Worker taking the top board off a bundle of white oak plank lying flat on the floor of a Maple Grove house, left to acclimate with spacer battens between the layers.

Everything we quote comes after a measurement. We grade a level by where the soil sits outside rather than by what the builder called the lot, so a lookout is quoted below grade exactly as a walkout is. We read moisture on the lower-level slab itself rather than inferring it from the floor above.

We also measure the wear layer before an engineered floor is quoted for sanding, because under the sanding threshold the honest answer is replacement and not a refinish. None of that is difficult. It is just the part most quotes skip.

The rest of our approach is about what ends up in writing. You get a price per square foot and the minimum project size before the crew arrives, rather than a free estimate with no number attached to it. The finish chemistry, the coat count and the cure schedule go on the quote, with the dates furniture, rugs and pets can come back stated as dates rather than as a shrug.

We name the heating season before the work is booked, because state law holds a rented home at 68 degrees from October 1 through April 30 and that seven-month heated stretch is when a floor opens up. Dust containment is described by the equipment on the truck and where it vents, never by the word dustless. Structural subfloor work is quoted as its own line, because finish work and framing sit on opposite sides of the state’s permit exemption.

Pre-1978 houses are worked under the federal renovation, repair and painting rule, which governs directly here because Minnesota is not an authorized state running its own program. And in an association building we quote against that building’s own recorded governing documents, which supersede any single sound rating and are often stricter.

What We Do

We refinish and recoat wood floors, repair hardwood and engineered floors, replace and reinforce subfloors, restore water damaged floors, install new solid and engineered floors, floor basements and lower levels, build and refinish hardwood stairs, and take on commercial wood flooring for property managers and associations. If you would like an estimate, ask us for one and it will arrive with a number on it.
